Program Description
Become a health promotion specialist, exercise physiologist or rehabilitation professional. Deepen your knowledge in subjects such as exercise testing and prescription, nutrition and physical activity and physiology of human performance. The program culminates with a comprehensive exam where you will showcase your mastery of the material.
Admissions Process
Application Requirements for following program are as follows:

- Degree-posted transcripts
- GPA of at least 2.75
OR completion of twelve or more semester credits of Cleveland State graduate coursework (including EDB 601 or HPR 601)
AND received a grade of B- or better in EDB 601 or HPR 601 with a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.0 and grades of B or better in the other courses
OR A score at the 50th percentile on the MAT or on the Verbal and Quantitative sections of the GRE

The primary focus of study is exercise physiology and its applications to physical activity programs.

A Master of Education in Exercise Science equips graduates with advanced knowledge of exercise physiology, fitness assessment, program design, and health promotion, preparing them for leadership roles in the growing health, wellness, and performance industries, including:
- Exercise Physiologist – Designing and implementing exercise programs to improve health, fitness, and athletic performance in clinical, corporate, and community settings.
- Cardiac Rehabilitation Specialist – Guiding patients through supervised exercise and lifestyle programs to support recovery and long-term cardiovascular health.
- Strength and Conditioning Coach – Developing training programs that enhance athletic performance, strength, endurance, and injury prevention for athletes and teams.
- Corporate Wellness Coordinator – Creating and managing workplace wellness initiatives that promote employee health, productivity, and overall well-being.
- Fitness Program Director – Overseeing fitness facilities, staff, and programming in health clubs, recreation centers, and wellness organizations.
- Health Promotion Specialist – Designing and implementing evidence-based programs that encourage healthy behaviors and disease prevention across diverse populations.
