Age-Friendly CSU
Supported by a cross-university committee Dr. Mary Milidonis from the Department of Physical Therapy and Dr. Eric Allard from the Department of Psychology championed the effort to get CSU designated as an Age-Friendly University (AFU). Part of being an Age-Friendly University involves committing to ten principles, such as recognizing the educational interests and needs of older adults, recognizing and supporting older adults seeking a second career, and other principles promoting and expanding access to resources for older adults.
We held a kickoff event on April 27, 2026 including a keynote from nationally recognized gerontology scholar Dr. Nina Silverstein, followed by a regional panel discussion on advancing an age-inclusive future in Northeast Ohio.
Dr. Milidonis and Dr. Allard recently sat down with the CSU podcast Viking Voices to talk about this new designation of Age-Friendly for Cleveland State University. Check out the podcast.
