CMSD 4th graders will soon be coming to Cleveland State University's aquatics center to learn swim safety.  More about this collaborative program was reported recently in Fresh Water.

"There are serious disparities in the swim safety opportunities for Cleveland's Black and Latinx youth.  I call it the "Swim Gap".  This new swim safety program bringing CMSD students to CSU's pool is just the beginning, we want to expand.  The Cleveland area is know for it's beautiful lake front and unusually high number of regional pools.  The swim access is great for the physical activity, but we need to be sure everyone has the opportunity to learn water safety," says Dr. Stephanie Brooks, Dean of the College of Health at Cleveland State University.  She also noted that the new "Swim the Gap" program is actively seeking grants and corporate sponsors.
