Date: Saturday, October 18th, 2025, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM (3 hour CMTE)
Location: College of Health Building, Room 112, 2112 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44115
Course Description: Supervision Across the Continuum: From First Steps to Professional Success provides an in-depth exploration of clinical supervision as a developmental process, supporting growth from novice learners to experienced professionals. Grounded in developmental and evidence-informed models, this course examines how supervisory practices must adapt to meet the evolving needs of students, interns, and clinicians in various stages of their professional journey.

Participants will engage with theoretical frameworks such as Erikson’s Identity Development and King & Kitchener’s Reflective Judgment Model to understand how competence, autonomy, reflection, and professional identity emerge across stages. Emphasis is placed on balancing accountability with empowerment, integrating reflective practice, and cultivating ethical, resilient, and effective clinicians. Through case studies and small group analysis, participants will apply strategies to real-world scenarios, learning how to flexibly adjust their supervisory approach to match the supervisee’s developmental level.

Key topics include supervisory roles across the continuum, methods for fostering competency acquisition and reflective practice, and strategies for addressing common challenges. Participants will also explore how supervision serves a critical role in professional identity formation and long-term professional success.

By the end of the course, supervisors will have a deeper understanding of how to guide growth at every level, from first exposure to clinical practice through advanced professional development. This training equips participants with practical tools, theoretical grounding, and applied strategies to strengthen supervisory effectiveness and promote excellence in clinical practice.

There are no prerequisites for this course, however, supervision experience at any level is recommended.

** This training will be recorded for viewing after the CMTE. Participants also have the opportunity to join via Zoom (synchronously) if they are unable to attend the in-person training.**
