Faculty Highlights: Dr. Cyndi Hovland

Dr. Cyndi Hovland recently co-facilitated a 2-day Healer’s Art training for interprofessional faculty teaching in the health professions. This training is part of The Remen Institute for the Study of Health & Illness (RISHI), founded by Rachel Naomi Remen, M.D. and focuses on the soul of healthcare, mitigating burnout and increasing resiliency in healthcare providers.  

Dr. Cyndi Hovland is the CSU Site PI on a 3-year (2022-2024) $1,000,000 Health Resources and Services Administration grant award titled: Resiliency: Caring for Ourselves While Caring for Others. The purpose of the proposed project is to increase resiliency to impact burnout, mental health issues, suicide, and substance abuse among healthcare professionals.

Dr. Cyndi Hovland was invited by The Benjamin Rose Institute on Aging education sessions for the Administration for Community Living (ACL) funded Expansion of Dementia-Capable Communities within Urban and Rural Settings in Ohio using Evidence-Based and Informed Programming project, to present a Webinar on September 21, 2022 titled Understanding Pre-Death Grief of Families Caring for Individuals with Dementia, based on her original and published research study.

Dr. Cyndi Hovland recently presented at The Nexus Summit: Virtual Simulation to Promote Interprofessional Team Practice with Older Adults. September 13, 2022. This summit is part of the National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education.
